Einride, the Swedish tech company, has now initiated an exciting partnership with the American confectionery and pet food giant Mars, known for brands such as Whiskas, M&M's, and Snickers. The goal is to secure the group's transportation in Germany by integrating up to 300 electric trucks into the distribution network. Einride's advanced platform, Einride Saga, will streamline this network, and the company will also take responsibility for the necessary charging infrastructure.
The first delivery of goods from the Mars Petcare factory in the German town of Verden to the Mars distribution center in Minden was completed last week using two electric trucks, covering a distance of approximately 9 miles. However, the plans extend beyond this. By 2030, the goal is to integrate a total of 300 electric trucks into the distribution network to reduce carbon dioxide emissions by an impressive 20,000 tons annually, equivalent to about 10 percent of Mars' total road transport emissions in Europe.
The partnership between Einride and Mars demonstrates their shared commitment to actively implementing measures for an intelligent freight system. According to Robert Falck, CEO and founder of Einride, the aim is to reduce emissions, increase efficiency, and promote sustainability on a large scale.
"This sets a precedent for other players in the freight industry to follow, highlighting the significant potential of large-scale electrification. We are honored to collaborate with Mars as their transformation partner as they strive to achieve their ambitious sustainability goals in a cost-effective manner and set a new standard for creating a more resilient future."

In the future, the companies plan to expand their partnership to include the United Kingdom and the Netherlands later this year. Additionally, they are expected to test autonomous transport within parts of the network next year. Mars, with an annual revenue of $47 billion and brands such as Cesar, M&M's, Snickers, and Whiskas, demonstrates its strong commitment to sustainability and environmentally friendly transportation through this progressive collaboration with Einride.
Mars Inc. is an American multinational manufacturer of confectionery, pet food, and other food products, as well as a provider of pet care services, with an annual sales of $45 billion in 2022.
